PS4’s only come with a standard storage size of 500GB – after installing your operating system, you’re only left with 407GB to play with. Considering most games are between 30GB and 50GB to install, plus significantly more to keep updated, that only allows around 6 – 8 games to be installed at any one time. It’s a similar tale for Xbox.

Only the following types of hard disk drive (HDD) is officially supported with the PS4™ system:
- 2.5 inch internal type (9.5mm or slimmer)
- Serial ATA (Parallel ATA is not supported)
